Measurement Instructions

Please have a tape measure or long shoe string handy. 1.  Measure from the top of your outer shoulder to the top of your opposite hip bone, normally, without slack, and not tight. 2.  Measure from the top of your outer shoulder to the top of your opposite hip bone, loosely, with slack. 3.  Cup Size (ex. 34 C) 4. Height Info (ex. 5'6'') 5.  Please include pre-pregnant t-shirt size, as well as let me know what you are having if you know (that's the fun part!) NOTE: If you are currently pregnant with belly showing, follow steps 1,2 and measure yourself from BEHIND at your BACK...and provide the rest of the info in steps 3-5.

 

Babywearing Instructions

To wear your pouch on your left shoulder:  Hold the pouch with the curved end at the bottom and the openings towards the right.  Put your right arm and head through the sling so the fabric spreads like a sash over your left shoulder to evenly distribute your baby's weight.  ( To wear your pouch on your right shoulder, reverse these instructions.)

Put your right arm and head through the sling.

The fabric will spread like a sash over your left shoulder to evenly distribute your baby's weight.  As you can see, the layers of fabric form a pouch in front of you!  This is wear you baby will rest.

	Make sure the back of your sling is evenly spread flat against your back, tuck it out if the layers happen to be rolled in.

Before you begin wearing your baby, remember to carry your baby according to your child's age, level of head and body control.  Have the seam of the sling at the bottom and where you want your baby's back to be.  Always make sure you have firm control of your baby at all times! ( you may want to practice sitting down for the first couple of times before you feel completely confident in your skills of baby wearing )

Once you have your sling on you should see a pocket formation within the sling (this is where the pouch name comes from..) this is where your baby will rest.  Always support your child's weight when putting them in the pouch until you are 100% certain they are safely and securely inside. ***Note***Always make sure your baby is fully encircled in the sling...feel your baby's body as you place them inside making sure the pouch formation completely envelopes them!!!  You should also feel the sling is nicely resting against your body as well.

Cradle Carry The cradle carry is recommended for newborns, at least until they can support their heads well.  Put the seam of your sling to the side parallel to your body, near your hip.  You will gently slide your baby in horizontally.  ***Note***With a very young baby you may want to place a folded blanket in the bottom of the pouch.  As your baby grows, use the pouch formation as a spacious "cradle" for your baby to rest in.

Always make sure baby is fully encirled in the sling!! Tuck them in gently, but always have firm control of their bodies...  Please remember to always be fully aware of this.  When your baby is fully enclosed in the sling, they are safely tucked in between a deep pouch.

Gently tuck in their feet and arms ( especially if you have an older baby ) Inside the pouch you go!!

	Once you have your baby inside, START MOVING!!  Babies love movement as they are reminded of mamas movement inside of her womb ( this is so heavenly!) Sometimes babies fall asleep right away!

	Kangaroo Carry As babies get a little older and more curious (about 3 months) they may enjoy the Kangaroo carry.  Place the seam in the middle of your body, with your baby facing away from you, cross their feet and slide them into the pouch in a sitting position (Indian Style).

Your baby's head will rest against your chest.  This is such a fun position, especially when they are just getting better head and neck control- mamas chest also acts as head support!

Tummy-to-Tummy Carry For the tummy-to-tummy carry, make sure the seam is basically in the middle of your body.  Guide the feet of your baby straight down into the pouch.  Some babies will fold their legs under their bottom, or Indian Style.  You can also help by reaching in from underneath ( see photo ) with your left  hand.  This carry can be used with young babies if they have fairly good head control.

Make sure their bottoms are fully inside of the pouch!!

	There you go!!

	Half Shoulder Flip Fold back the top layer of fabric on the shoulder of your sling...this will bring your child in closer to your body, giving more support behind the baby's back. This is great to do with really nice reversible slings...see!! You can show off the other prints!!

	This is FUN!!

Hip Carry The hip carry is convenient and comfortable for carrying your older baby and toddler because it allows you to rest much of your baby's weight on your hip.  Put the seam almost all the way to the side of your body.  You can either put the baby in the pocket of the pouch with feet enclosed in the fabric on either side of your body or seat the baby or toddler with feet hanging out the bottom to the sides of you.

	A child that is tired will be more secure if you pull the fabric up around their arms ( like picture ).  You can also do the shoulder flip to bring child in closer to you if they are restless.

Back Carry This carry should only be used with a child older than 15 months with good head and back control!!  ***Note*** My baby in the picture is 6 months old..this is clearly just an illustration of the position, wait till your child is at least 15 months to carry them this way!!! Begin by placing the child in the hip carry.  Bend forward a bit and carefully slide the child in around to your back.  Spread the fabric up to your child's armpits.

DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS CARRY WITH AN UNCOOPERATIVE CHILD- OR A CHILD LESS THAN 15 Months of age!!  Please use common sense when choosing what activities you are doing while carrying your baby...watch for corners around the house and always put your arm around your child when bending...this supports your back and your baby ( even though your child will be secure in the pouch formation )
