SuperMomz is thrilled to announce that we will be honoring a Real
Life SuperMom each month. These Moms have been selected as they
have inspired us with their strength and passion.
So here is our August SuperMom
Katrina...

Type of Business and Brief Description:
KaTasidy is a graphic print design and web design company. We have been
around since 2002 and operate from our office in the basement of our home. We
are the one-stop-shop for all your marketing needs. We love to work with
start-up businesses that are in the process of developing their brand. We start
with your logo and build all the other marketing off of it. Once the logo is
finished, we move on to the design of your Corporate Identity (business cards,
letterhead and envelopes) and culminate with the design of your website. If you
are farther along in the process and already have a website or logo but are
unhappy with them, we love to give design "face-lifts" and can enhance the look
of your branding.
How do you balance work and family?
To answer this in one word: Prayer! Prayer is what gets me through the rough
days. Having a 1 year old is very challenging and also running the business
full-time. I think entrepreneurial moms are amazing and I'm proud to put myself
in that category. Just to keep the house clean and keep yummy meals on the
table, which I struggle with big time (:0) is a full-time job in itself. You
then tack on all the hats I wear on a daily basis from receptionist, client
services, designer, boss, bookkeeper, project manager, mom, cook, maid, wife,
etc. The list is exhausing! But the Lord gets me thought it on a daily basis and
I love my son and husband and the freedom that our business gives us.
Knowing that the sky is the only limit we have to how much our business grows is
very exciting.
Tips and Advice from Katrina for other SuperMoms:
As far as business advice, I know the best thing and the hardest thing we
have ever done for our business is to operate it 100% debt free. If you have the
option of going at your business a little bit slower so you don't have to take
out loans to run it, then go for that. In our personal lives we made a goal
after we got married to be debt-free and we have made a professional decision to
keep our business 100% debt free as well. This has caused our business to
grow a little bit slower , but we are thankful that we don't have very much
overhead and are able to pay cash for everything we do. We are able to pay our
bills and vendors on time - every time. Having excellent business-to-business
relationships is very important. I know I would much rather work with clients
who pay on time or even early than those clients who are continually late
with payments.
As far as person advice, I'd say to be very careful to draw the line between
work time and personal time. Working from home can be very hard to "quit" for
the day and spend time as a family. For me my computer is always right there and
it takes a very special effort for me to set aside time to spend with my
son and husband and just have family time. It's very easy to let work rule you
life, but I've found that it's just as easy to rule your work and live your
life. Take time for family - I think you'll find that you have more time to get
work stuff done when you do.
Katrina has kindly donated a $30 gift certificate to SuperMomz to one
lucky SuperMom. Just check out our blog for the details.
So here is our July SuperMom Rachel...
Type of Business and Brief Description:
Manufacturer of Babeebrite, a hands-free mobile light source for
parents. My husband invented this light for police officers 6 years
ago. After using it on all 3 boys for middle of the night everythings, I
decided to make them in pastel colors and go into the mommy market.
How do you balance work and family?
To answer this in one word: Calendar! I couldn't survive without
one! Between business meetings, volunteering at schools, BMX, motor cross,
karate classes, swimming lessons, camping, etc...I would lose my mind if it
wasn't all written out. I even put the boys activities in their own colors
so it is easier to read. The advantage of running our own business makes
it possible for us to have a flexible schedule. For example, when one of
our boys has a field trip, I am always able to sign up to be a driver. My
husband and I then take turns!
Tips and Advise from Rachel for other SuperMoms:
As far as business advise, a good friend said to me, "You only have one
chance to make a good first impression." I really keep this advise close
by my side! I think that no matter what you are trying to sell, if you
believe in your product, people get that. Run with what is in your
heart...take that energy and go with it! As far as advise for family life,
wow, 3 boys 6, 4 & 2 yrs requires a lot of energy! I am lucky, I used
to be a school teacher and I know how to navigate them into different activities
when they are home for the day. As far as tips on being a
supermom...besides the calendar (a must have), keeping them on schedule and
having fun during our daily events is most important. I am a strong believer in
time outs. Not only for the children, but for the adults as well. I
too sometimes need that 4 minute break so I don't say something terrible to my
son as he has just shattered the glass filled with milk while "tossing" a ball
in the living room! (smile) I am also blessed with a wonderful
husband & dad to our boys. But really, its all about the smiles and
love our family shares. We begin our mornings with a little cuddle time
and at the end of the day when I get xoxos from my boys, I feel like I am on top
of the world!

Type
of Business and Brief
Description:
My blog cronicles the ins and outs of being
a stay at home mom to three boys. I wear my baby (or he wears me - I'm
still not sure). I'm a girly girl and love to shop, but I also have an
insatiable appetite for knowledge and being an informed parent. Everyday is an
adventure and every morning a new opportunity lies ahead. Life is good!
Work/Family
Balance:
Since I
stay at home, my family is my work (who's isn't?). But, I do enjoy getting some
payment from hosting ads on my blog and doing product reviews. I find that
blogging is my therapy! I can be found here late at night after the kiddos are
in bed and hubby's playing xBox! Also, mornings before the kids are up - I love
those quiet times!
Tips and Advise from
Stephanie for other SuperMoms:
Don't take
everything so seriously! I am very laid back as a parent, housewife and business
woman. At the end of the day, will it really matter? I
think that quite often. These days, priorities are just out of order for many
SuperMoms. We all deserve a break. We all make mistakes, we also deserve to give
ourselves a pat on the back when we do a job well done. Be proud of yourself
even for the little things. The little things add up and can bring fabulous
contentment! |
